Who is this lady?

My name is Emily Kate, & I’m very pleased to meet you.

With deep roots in the Pacific Northwest, I have been transplanted into the West of Ireland since May of 2020 & have been building a life in Galway rooted in community, belonging, and service ever since.

My own experiences of change, transition, & finding home in a new country sparked a deep curiosity about what helps people feel grounded, resilient, and at ease within themselves. I learned that if I could cultivate a sense of home and purpose from within, I could thrive anywhere. Positive Psychology was an important part of my undergraduate degree from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington and I was delighted to find and pursue a Master's degree in Applied Positive and Coaching Psychology at University College Cork. As an added bonus, I found that once I could successfully navigate traffic on Sunday’s Well Road, I became officially competent to drive anywhere in Ireland.

My research explored the felt sense of belonging & connection to self, others, community, and the divine through participation in a community-based choir. Drawing together positive psychology, coaching psychology, and lived experience, I became increasingly interested in the ways that shared experiences, meaningful relationships, and mindfulness practices support wellbeing & help us feel more fully engaged with life. Even in the midst of intensive graduate school work, I attended outside seminars, courses and conferences in Oxford and Belfast on Trauma with leading experts in the field, online Whole Brain Living with Dr Jill Bolte Taylor, The Neuroscience of Change with Dr Amanda Blake, Internal Family Systems and Parts Work for Coaches with Dr Richard Schwartz, and Spirituality with a wide variety of teachers and peers physically both in Ireland and abroad.

A classically trained vocalist, music has always been an important aspect of my life. I discovered Sound as a Healing Modality in 2016 and have devoured every learning opportunity available to me since then. Having trained with several respected teachers in Sound Healing and most recently earning a recognised diploma from OBUS School, I am stepping into purpose by offering this modality to my clients. A foundational knowledge of music theory combined with energy work and functional understanding of the instruments and their proper implementation for healing purposes equip me to actively cultivate being known throughout Galway as “yer wan with the bowls.”

Today, I bring together evidence-based and trauma-informed 5th wave positive psychology coaching, Reiki, and Sound Therapy in Galway to support people in reconnecting with their own inner wisdom, strengths, sense of alignment, and purpose. My approach is gentle, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that every person possesses the resources needed for meaningful and lasting change. Facilitating my clients’ ability to locate these resources and solutions within, I offer a holistic approach that honours the interconnected nature of mind, body, heart, & spirit. My intention is to create a compassionate, supportive space where people can reconnect with themselves, access their innate strengths and wisdom, and move toward greater wellbeing and fulfilment.

I have had the privilege of meeting people from many different backgrounds and walks of life. These experiences have reinforced a simple belief: every interaction offers an opportunity to choose understanding over separation and curiosity over judgement. This perspective continues to guide both my work and my life.

My practice is based in an accessible Community Centre in the heart of Galway, where I am passionate about joining and creating welcoming spaces for people to gather, reflect, learn, and grow. Whether through one-to-one sessions, workshops, or community events, my intention is to support people in cultivating a deeper sense of belonging within themselves, their relationships, and the communities they are part of.

My work is rooted in a deep belief that healing, growth, and wellbeing happen through connection, self knowledge and compassion. I believe that when we feel rooted in who we are and supported by meaningful relationships, we are better able to live with authenticity, purpose, compassion, and joy. It is a privilege to walk alongside people as they discover what that path looks like for them with no agenda other than to be of service.

I don’t mind if you call me a Yank…

just call me The Yank from Barna.

The MA in Applied Positive & Coaching Psychology from University College Cork that I earned has resourced me to be equally challenging and supportive for positive change. I employ proven methods that combine neuroscience with mindfulness and ground the woo in practical, tangible ways that are evidence-based.

My only agenda is to facilitate your ability to make changes that you desire. Any shifts that occur for you as a result of this work were already inside of you, waiting for an opportunity to emerge.
